Homage to the supreme spiritual master—
Unified embodiment of the Deeds of Jiṇas and Jiṇaputras;
And the Swift Lord and others of Dharmapāla assemblies
Who support the Dharma world with their four enlightened deeds!
BRIEF HISTORY
Starting Gaden Monastery in the amphitheatre of Drog Riwoche mountain ranges as foretold by Buddha Shakyamuṇi, the fourth Buddha of this Fortunate Aeon, Je Tsongkhapa (1357- 1419 A.D.) had such influence in serving the Buddha's legacy that in many ways it resembled the Enlightened One returning again among sentient beings.
On March 23, 2008 (17h day of the 2nd Tibetan lunar month, year earth rat) Shar Gaden Nampar Gyalwe Ling monastic seat was auspiciously opened with deep public interest to preserve this sacred legacy. Mindful of the delicate time for Buddhism in general, and the Gelug tradition in particular that resembles a lamp flickering in the wind, since its inception Shar Gaden has taken up with dedication its objectives in terms of preserving the untarnished golden heritage of Je Tsongkhapa; in taking up the spiritual legacy of past masters; on efforts in the three wheels of spiritual aspirant including study, contemplation and conduct in practice. In these thus far dedication has been laudable.
There are vibrant indications that if the same trend continues under its present masters and lineage holders, the monastic seat will steadily grow and also have quite a large number of experts on Buddhism and practitioners on continued basis. With regular classes in grammar, poetry, history, religious history, language, literature, sand maṇdala creation, rites and rituals etc., it is already an important educational institution in Buddhist culture. |
